The robotic Automatons and the bug-like Termininds terrorize Super Earth citizens in the biggest conflict since the last Helldiver mobilization, over one hundred years ago. Each faction operates differently, and requires their own strategies – and stratagems – to face.
Its tight gameplay loop, excellent combat, and clever squad dynamics also make it one of the best and most fun tactical co-op shooters in years. And that’s good news for democracy.

Helldivers 2 is an incredibly fun, wildly unpredictable game that will make you laugh, cry, and yell out in frustration. However, it doesn’t have much of a story or critique its political themes in any meaningful way. Online server issues can be a pain to deal with too.
Either way, it’s your team’s first priority to use a Reinforce stratagem to call your brand new Helldiver down to the planet to pick up right where you left off. You can even grab the guns your previous corpse left behind.
Helldivers 2 is a mighty fun time especially with friends, family, and anyone you might want to “accidentally” flatten with a supply package.

But you won't need to hit L1 and try to check these during fights, as a handy little pop-up appears on the screen to tell you when you've just got a few more seconds to wait.
The quality level is high, presenting without obvious aliasing, even on the PS5 in its performance mode. The clouds are also volumetric in nature, at least at lower levels of the atmosphere, and resolve without distracting artifacting. Low-lying fog also appears to be part of the Helldivers 2 Gameplay equation, with ground-level fog often giving planets a certain ethereal quality. Environmental density is impressive. There's a lot of scattered rocks, shrubs, and tufts of grass throughout the various planets. Given the size and scope of the game I have to imagine that procedural systems have been used extensively here, but the final results look quite conterraneo. Foliage in particular can be generously placed, with some especially verdant garden worlds. I did note animation issues with the foliage on at least one planet but on a more macro level, lighting and assets come together to make each world feel distinct, giving each environment some nice vistas.
